Terms of service

1. The service

plagiarism.ink checks text for passages that also appear on the web and estimates how likely the text is to have been written by AI. The free checker has a daily limit. Premium is a monthly subscription with more searches per paper, Word uploads, quote skipping, AI detection and printable reports, as described on the pricing page.

2. Results are leads, not verdicts

A match means the same words appear somewhere else; it does not show who wrote them first, whether they were cited, or that anyone copied. The AI-writing result is an estimate and can be wrong in either direction. The checker cannot see text that is not on the public web. Read each result in context, and do not base a grade, a disciplinary decision or any other serious decision on a result alone.

3. Your text

Only submit text you have the right to submit. You keep all rights to it; plagiarism.ink claims none. How the text is handled is set out in the privacy policy.

4. Accounts

A Premium account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself. Accounts that are shared, resold or used to get around the limits may be suspended.

5. Subscriptions and billing

• Premium is billed in US dollars, by Stripe, at the monthly price shown when you subscribe, every month until you cancel.
• All plans include up to 50 uses per month, each additional use 25 cents each.
• If a price changes, you will be told before the new price applies to you.
• You can cancel at any time from Manage Account. Refunds are covered by the refund and cancellation policy.

6. Acceptable use

Do not query the site automatically or in bulk, resell access or results, try to get around the usage limits, submit unlawful material, or interfere with the site or its servers.

7. No warranty

The service is provided as it is and as available. It may change, be interrupted or miss things, and no particular result is guaranteed.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, plagiarism.ink and B Klug are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the site or its results, and total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated; the new version will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
